The death of Oakley’s sister has left his family broken and buried beneath their grief. In an attempt to get out from underneath their pain, they rent an isolated cottage in the Cotswolds. For Oakley, it’s an exercise in futility. He doesn’t see much hope for things to get back to the way they used to be, and he’s bored and restless as he waits out the time until he can return to the city and university. All of that changes when he meets local boy Bobby, and the connection between them is instant. Within a few days, Oakley is ready to walk away from everything to stay with Bobby. However, Bobby has problems of his own, and they might be more than the budding romance can survive. But they might also give Oakley a new perspective on his own situation.

Excerpt

Summer passed England by that year, as if it shared his family’s grief and refused to intrude upon such solemn days with unwanted sunshine. A cool, wet July turned into a blustery August, and now a dismal September loomed. From the window of their rented cottage, there was nothing but gray skies as far as the eye could see. The fields spread out in a patchwork of shortbread and moss. Plentiful rain meant the grass stood tall, but the lack of light filtering through thick, heavy clouds dulled its various shades of green. And this bleak scene was supposed to make everything better?

Oakley sighed and turned to the sink. He poured himself a glass of water from a spluttering, corroded tap and took a sip. Despite the dubious appearance of the fittings, the water was clean, tasteless, and refreshing. He supposed he should at least be thankful for that. It was likely to be the only pleasant thing this vacation would provide.

Cover Reveal: New Cover for The Genesis Project & Origins

Old earth has been deemed unsuitable for life, New Earth is home. With the Uni-Wars over, races have joined together in order to sustain their way of life. All life was considered worth saving, but only one race failed to submit. Humans. Now extinct, humans are a thing of the past. The people of New Earth won’t acknowledge their hand in their eradication, but they have benefited from it. Dr. Vaggo Blackmore has found the answer, he’s restored his races way of life- sustenance through farming. The one thing that will give them back their long lives….. Blood, human blood.

Biologically engineered in a lab, Genesis Blackmore has always been different. Her father has told her it’s due to her enhancements, the Federated Council sees her as a genetic mutation; and her fellow peers see her as the shiny new toy. Gen has had better days. Everyone on New Earth has milky white skin, platinum blonde hair, and electric blue eyes. It’s the norm. Genesis’ glossy, black hair, ice blue eyes ringed by gold, would have almost made her socially acceptable- if it wasn’t for her golden skin and blue, gold veins. In a sea of milky white she alone is the dark anomaly. All Pars get their life’s nourishment through blood plasma.

All Pars find their match through the tasting. Gen can do neither, forbidden by her father to do so. She can neither taste, nor be tasted. Something that’s never bothered her until now. **Currently Under Reedits and soon to be re-released.

When Genesis Blackmore returns to Sector 12 of the Dark Colonies to start her next semester at the Academy, a new breed of humans, called Gen One’s, have been intricately ingrained into New Earth’s s society. Treated as slaves to the evolving vampiric population, they hold no true status in life. Genesis, a Gen One herself is now faced with the harsh reality; she too, could become enslaved. Matched to Xander Treegold, she questions his motives at every turn when his promise of an equal partnership changes after the Genetics Council realizes her true lineage.

With whispers of a rebellion inside the halls of the Academy, Gen is forced to choose sides. but the last thing she expected to deal with was a war between Vampires and Gen Ones. She’s unable to handle her relationship with Xander. A relationship that’s tenuous. With talks of an impending raid ensuring devastating results, she turns to the unlikeliest of allies. Adam Reynard.

Faced with the constant threat of slavery, Genesis is forced into making a decision that will change the course of her life. Will she join the rebellion, or will the crushing weight of The Genetics Council doom her and the entire race of Gen One’s.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day. For me, I’m probably behind my desk, sitting at my cubicle working on month end closing, or billing of some sort. (Day Job)

I’ve not posted in a while. Things have been a bit hectic, even as I type that, I’m thinking (dude, balance with a smile). Even as I try and balance my life, things are always turning up. Which is why I think Flow, is the perfect song for today. I actually listened to this song a lot as I wrote Arctic Bound. There was something about the words that just fit to what I was doing. Writing for me is like a purging of my soul. Not just the bad, but the good as well. I like to get it all down on paper. Some stuff is a reflection of my life, other things, totally made up (that’s the part I love). My mind is an interesting playground and I constantly show up for recess.  Enough chatting, lets get to the good stuff.  THE MUSIC!

Flow

Ooh baby, mm
When you hold me
Oh oh, when you hold me
The sound

Is it possible I could feel this cool
I could really love you the way I do
Is it possible I could feel this good
I could really love you the way I do

See me (Within the light)
Flowing (Take me to you)
Like the river to the sea
You come down (I’m in the light)
You cover (Pull me to you)
And the waves rush over me

I feel a love light rush over me
I feel the love turn to me
And then your love just creeps over me
Over me

See me (Within the light)
Flowing (Take me to you)
Like the river to the sea
You come down (I’m in the light)
You cover (Pull me to you)

And the waves rush over me

Ooh baby, mm
When you hold me
Oh oh, when you hold me
The sound

And I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go
And I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go

Take up your love
Take up your love
Take up your love
And come to me
This love’s not a liar
To cold, it’s a fire
I’m on the run
And it’s a comfort to me

Take up your love
Take up your love
Take up your love
And come to me
This love’s not a liar
To cold, it’s a fire
I’m on the run
And it’s a comfort to me

And I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go
And I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go

Produced By Kid Cudi

[Intro] If you tryin’ I’m
Swim with the best team

[Hook] You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away

[Verse 1] Damage control
The same old tricks won’t work no more
Smarter, stronger
Think I’m gon’ make it through
What is to do, I’ve been low enough
I make enough
I jumped too low, now out the way

[Hook] You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
Ey, yeah

[Verse 2] Calls from the dark
I got hope in my eyes
No help in sight
I’ma swim in the light
She tryna pull me in
But the same old tricks don’t work no more

[Hook] You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
You could try and numb the pain, but it’ll never go away
Ey, yeah

[Musical breakdown] [Outro] When you’re in love
Swim in the light
Swim in your love
Let’s get well
Yeah

Year in review.

Year in review.

2016 has been a rollercoaster of a ride for me in all aspects. From relationships, writing, and the daily grind at the day job. I tried to take a step back from the crazy. I wasn’t as vocal, or opinionated as I tend to be. I can’t say if that was a mistake or not, but I feel on a personal level its balanced me out all the same. I commented on a few things I couldn’t keep quiet on, and there were other things I felt I should have voiced loudly. To say 2016 was a cluster is an understatement. Hoping the next year will be better in all aspects.

For the coming year, I want to focus on my balance. My center of gravity, and that gravity for me is my life. I want to wake up and write when I want, go to bed reading what I like, and enjoy all the things life has to offer in between. Big decisions and little ones, I plan on making them all. Happy New Year all! May 2017 be exactly what you hope for

Favorite Boxed Set Cover.

Favorite Read of the Year

Favorite Cover & Favorite Heroine Lead

Favorite Cover & Had a ton of fun writing.

I feel like if I just write WOW!, that will cover the review, yet I know I need to provide more than one word.

Let’s begin with the official stuff, I was provided a copy of Diamond in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley.  the cover drew me in; I mean seriously; this has to be one of the best covers I’ve seen in a long time. Once I read the book, it ultimately NAILED the female protagonist, Nadya.
I have been drawn to post-apocalyptic stories for a while and read so many.  This is a world where every breath is a fight, water is scarce, and food… Well, what do people do when food runs low?  It’s savage, raw, and depicts a nightmare world.  The imagery was brutal yet so realistic; I was thankful for my fresh glass of water.

Nothing in this story went how I thought.  NOTHING.

Diamond, at one point, was probably an honorable man; yet through this hard life and choices he has made, and the power he has, he’s become a tyrant.  What’s the saying? “Ultimate power corrupts ultimately.”  Yes, I think that sums up Diamond.

“I’m going to use everything you got, to get everything I need, and give you the leftovers I don’t want.”

He is a bastard in the biggest way and only cares about himself; yet, when Nadya is introduced into his world, he starts to thaw that frozen heart, in little bits, I mean by 1/16.  Nadya also blows his world apart, and shows Diamond his isn’t in such a position of ultimate power as he thought.  This realization is a brutal blow to this megalomaniac, and this is where things really start to turn; I was given a big WTF and I realized the story wasn’t going to be anything I thought.  Oh no, it’s wasn’t.  Eden warned us in the preface, but oh holy hell!  I’m still reeling.

Again, the best word to sum up the story is WOW.  Diamond is so brutally raw in the realities of humanity and the base instinct to survive.  I am giving this story a HUGE 5 Boundless Stars.  I cannot wait for the next book!….Sara

Boundless Book Reviews

Blogger

Confession time Tigris Eden is probably my all time favorite author. EVER. Now keep in mind I read about 300 books a year from numerous authors. Tigris Eden is probably one of the only authors who delivers on everything I have ever wanted in a book. If you can’t tell already I LOVED Until Her. Now I don’t want you to think I love it only because it’s from Tigris Eden, because while it helps that’s she’s so amazing that’s not the only reason I love this book and this author. Tigris Eden just delivers time and time again. She gives new and exciting stories that have some majorly kick butt characters. She has swooning hot romance that leaves me needing a fan because wowza. Her writing is just beyond amazing and it’s beautiful.

Until Her begins with Anna in the hospital. Now if you don’t know why she’s in the hospital please shield your eyes away from my astoundingly amazing review and go grab Give and Take and A Slow Burn books #0.5 and #1. Until Her picks up almost immediately after Give and Take where Anna has been brutally attacked and had to go through major surgery. We get a lot of lovely scenes from Jackson’s POV which was awesome because Jackson is yummy and his deep love for Anna really comes into every thought and interaction he has with other characters while Anna is unconscious.

Until Her takes us through the beautiful and terrifying journey through Anna and Jacksons’ love story. They’re being hunted by a huge crime family who is tied it seems to the people who Jackson works for. Anna takes time to recover from her injury while Jackson goes to New York to find out how to take down the people who hurt Anna. Mind you a lot more happens along the way like the cover suggests Anna may or may not be getting a tattoo.

Until Her is stunning, exhilarating, and jaw dropping.

Anna truly comes into her own during this story. She really steps up and starts to believe in herself and believe in the love Jackson and her share. She doesn’t put up with the crazy ladies anymore. She truly grows and comes into her own and grows in a very realistic way.

Jackson really grows as a character too. He really shows that he doesn’t need to argue with Anna over everything. He’s willing to do anything to make his daughter and Anna happy as well which is so swoon because who doesn’t love a man willing to take care of daughter and woman no matter what. I also liked that he realized what he was missing in his other relationships.

Until Her has such a diverse cast of characters in both race and characteristics. First I love that Anna and Jackson are in a lovely interracial relationship which is so amazing. A relationship like Anna and Jackson’s is so rare in books I was so excited when first reading their stories.

Until Her is also an actual story. Sometimes with romance stories you don’t get that and just get lots of sexy times. Tigris Eden always delivers on creating a special story that while has romance and sexy times in it; the story is more about the actual story.

Tigris Eden is phenomenal. She provides so much amazingness in one story. I did not put this book down even when I had to go to the bathroom really really badly. So worth it. I had a major book hangover from staying awake for so long while reading.

If you have been reading this review at all you can tell I am seriously recommending this book. Until Her has everything you could ever want in a story. If you haven’t read anything by Tigris Eden you need to and what better place to start than in Beauville.

Music Muse Monday: Run Cried The Crawling by Agnes Obel

Run Cried the Crawling

Crawling down
From high hopes to the ground
While trouble sings along

Baby my heart and soul
A giant in the room
I left him long ago, following you

Wind heavy on the ground
A cloak before the moon
I guess I’ve never known
Someone like you

Falling down
From high hopes to the ground
There’s no way out

Baby my heart and soul
A giant in the room
We took the walk alone
And now we are through

Wind heavy on the ground
A cloak before the moon
I guess I’ve never known
Someone like you

Nature will get her way
Though you took her for a fool
Walking on the lake
Frozen under you

Baby my heart and soul
There’s nothing we couldn’t do
Summer’s blowing cold
And now we are through

I’m alright here in your arms, darling
I’m alright here in your arms, darling
I’m alright only in your arms, darling
I’m alright here in your arms, darling

I find my self listening to this artist at least once a week now. She’s soothing, and each song tells a story. I’m in awe of her words, and the way she spins them together weaving her magic. I wonder what other people listen to sometimes, and whether or not they feel deeply connected to music like I do. I know I’m not the only one. Although, I’m the only one who gets me, and my love affair with music, I hope other’s get to experience the same kind of joy I do. Ciao!

Music Muse Monday: People by Kat Frankie

Music Muse Monday: People by Kat Frankie

I first heard this song, while on my way to Eugene, on my Spotify weekly spotlight. I don’t listen to the radio that much anymore. It’s nice when I get to discover new to me artists this way, and Kat Frankie is new to me. I love her voice its soothing, and has that throaty flare that isn’t too over the top. But mellow and smooth.  Here are the lyrics.

She met you in the driveway
It was so long
With the neighbours still complaining about the heat
She fell in your way
She broke down and said
I feel loved
But people tell you where to go
I don’t know why the revelations bore me
I know I won’t go outside
But right then like a rabbit in the yard
I’m aware of the predators the city conceals
I know by their eyes
But Charley don’t jump, stay in this world

You lay down in the hallway it was so wide
Like a slow-dance with a carpet cheek to cheek
And sensing with their view and only known to you
Higher ground
But people tell you where to go
I don’t know why they clutch their faith
as their only defense against the void
But right then like rabbit in the yard
I’m aware of the predators the city conceals
I know by their eyes

But Charley don’t jump, stay in this world
Charley don’t jump, there’s so much to live for
Charley don’t jump, a lover’s coming soon
Charley don’t jump, there’s someone who needs you

Happy Release Day & Guest Post from author, Sylvain Reynard English & Spanish version

Happy Release Day & Guest Post from author, Sylvain Reynard English & Spanish version

Thank you Tigris for inviting me to visit your blog. It’s a pleasure to be with you and your readers.

Justice. Revenge.

The line between the two is often blurred. Sometimes on the road to justice we find ourselves veering into revenge and we end up taking steps we regret.

In my novel, “The Raven,” the heroine refuses to identify herself as a victim, even though she carries the marks of violence on her body. She gave up her hope for justice years ago.

Her lover, William, won’t let it go.  He’s a supernatural being and he has the power to right all the wrongs that have ever been done to her…

Here is an excerpt from “The Raven”:

“I will give you justice.” William’s tone grew frightening.

“Justice?” Raven looked up into his resolute gray eyes.

“You said no one defended you. I will.”

 She sighed. “It’s too late.”

He rolled her to her back and leaned over her. “It’s never too late for justice.  I will deal with everyone who ever harmed you. All you need to do is name them.”

 “It won’t change the past.”

He placed his hand on her cheek. “It will stop the torment.”

 “Your justice involves death.”

“I don’t see why a death sentence is problematic.”

“I don’t want you to kill anyone. Do you hear me?”  She rolled away from him, exasperated. “Don’t you get tired of death?”

 ….

William’s idea of justice is very much at odds with Raven’s ideas. As his pursuit of justice edges into revenge, in the sequel “The Shadow,” Raven is faced with the dilemma of helping him or stopping him. What will she choose? And what will William do?

The series comes to a close December 6th with the release of the final book
“The Roman.” For me, this was the most challenging novel to write but also the most rewarding. In it, I continue to explore the themes of justice, revenge, love, and redemption and I hope that readers enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

“The Roman” is available in bookstores across North America, and around the world from vendors such as iBooks, Amazon, The Book Depository, FNAC, Barnes and Noble and KOBO.

I wish everyone a healthy and happy holiday season and a blessed 2017. Thank you for reading,

 — ¿Justicia?

—Has dicho que nadie te defendió.

¿Me oyes?

—Se apartó de él dando vueltas, exasperada—. ¿No te hartas de tanta muerte?

….

Music Muse Monday: The Curse by Agnes Obel

Music Muse Monday: The Curse by Agnes Obel

Lyrics: The Curse by Agnes Obel

Have the people went to the high hill?
From the start they didn’t know exactly why, why
Winter came and made it so – oh look alike, look alike.
Underneath the grass would grow aiming at the sky.

It was swift, it was just another wave of a miracle,
but no one, nothing at all, will go for the kill.
If they called on every soul, in the land, on the moon.
Only them, what they know, a blessing in this curse.

The curse will come from the underground down by the shore,
where all grow even hunger to live like before.
The curse will come from the underground down by the shore,
where all grow even hunger to live like before.

Tell me more of the very soul, look alike, look alike.
Do you know this strangle hold covering their eyes?
If I call on very soul in the land, on the moon.
Tell me if a lover known a blessing in this curse.

The curse will come from the underground down by the shore,
where all grow even hunger to live like before.
The curse will come from the underground down by the shore,
where all grow even hunger to live like before.

Long for you by Mar….

Every time I hear this song I have to close my eyes, and just breathe. Take it all in. The music, the lyrics, everything. I couldn’t find the lyrics online anywhere for this song. Trust me, I obsessed and obsessed over trying to find the lyrics just so I knew in my mind that what I was visualizing, was what I was hearing.

“Would you share your life with me.”

But in all seriousness, this song creates a longing, like deep down inside, and I had this on replay for like twelve hours straight fixated on the words,  his voice. I’m in love with a song. A deep seated infatuation that will forever stain my soul. But in a good way. So of course I went on a hunt for all things Mar, because I figured if Long for you could unhinge me, so could his other stuff. I was not wrong. He’s soulful, and just skilled in all things music.

This was on his video Long for you, which you can find on YouTube. ~Love was the home we built. Music was the cement. ~ <—–SWOON!

I hope you guys will fall in love with Long for you, like I did.

Cover Reveal: Dire Cravings

Olivia Esmerelda Vasques has always been in control—in the boardroom, in the bedroom, and in her life. But when her partner/ex-husband insists she needs a vacation, Olivia is reluctant to give in until the board of directors issues an ultimatum: take a vacation or don’t bother coming back.

So hiking Mt. McKinley it is. Not her idea of fun, especially after she stumbles into something she can’t quite explain and doesn’t really understand. All she knows is that the sexy warrior she meets has promised to keep her safe. The problem is, she doesn’t know if she can survive him.

Bödvar (Blue) Varangian never expected to have his ass handed to him by the saucy firecracker that barrels into him in the woods. Scared out of her mind, and just a bit moody, she’s now his responsibility. However, she doesn’t take kindly to him telling her what to do, even though she’s been thrust into a world of shifters and vampires and is obviously in way over her head. He knows her type, yet he can’t help wanting to tame her.  But his cravings run dark; something he suspects will have her running faster and farther than the threat she currently faces.

Can two people from two different worlds find a way to navigate their journey of friendship, love, and their darkest desires?

Un Fuego Lento

Un Feugo Lento (A Slow Burn)

A Slow Burn Available Now!

No exactamente…

—¿Segura? —Le pregunté una vez más.

—Sí, chica. ¡A mi lado lucirás espectacularmente bien!

Me encanta.

Mi madre me alentó a expandir mis alas.

—No te emociones.

Dios… ¡Amo a Joey!

What does it mean to be ME in America?

What does it mean to be ME in America?

LL woke me up last night to tell me Trump won the presidency. (OMFG RIGHT!) I’d like to say I went back to sleep, I’d like to say that my sleep was sound and peaceful. It wasn’t. My first thought, “What am I goin going to say to my sons? How am I going to explain this? Will they even be okay? Will I be okay? My husband is going to go to town on these fools. Is Canada taking applications for new residents? It’s like a three month period before you get healthcare right? Then I thought, no, Canada is too cold, maybe I should pack up and take my family to Costa Rica. Somehwere South, and warm.

Seriously, no joke. Those were my thoughts. I don’t know if what I’m writing even makes half the sense I think it does as I type it. I’ve had all day to mull this over, and I keep coming back to the same question. What does it mean to be ME in America?

But as the day went on, I started thinking what does it mean to everyone? It’s going to be different for all of us, as we’re not the same. But I’m going to try and put to words, what has and is still flowing through my mind. (This may not be an easy journey to follow for many reasons.) But I’m going to give it a shot anyway.

A co-worker said to me this morning. “I couldn’t sleep. I’m here early, because I’m afraid of what it means to be a black man.” (Now I can’t say whether or not he was serious or not about that last part, but I totally know he wasn’t joking about the sleep part.)

As the morning progressed more people started to come in and one said, “I was up all night watching the news. He didn’t get my vote, but I’m glad he won. He’s going to make it so  us old people are going to survive.”

A friend sent me a snap chat saying, “Worst day ever. Was hoping I was having a nightmare last night.”  My response was, “Nope we are officialling living it.”

“I’m already sufferring from buyers remorse, and I didn’t even vote for him, can I get my money back.” My good writer friend Paige Prince said that, and my response to her was, “Nope, we can’t get our receipts back. So sad!”

Now when I said that I was emotional, and full of so many feelings, none of them were good. (I even posted that as a status on my FB Wall.) I started writing down things that for me, said, what does it mean to be me, like really be me.

So here goes nothing…

Most people automatically slap a label on me. Assign me to a color scheme I did not choose. (I don’t like labels, I don’t associate myself with them, and not becuase I’m not proud of my heritage. It is for that reason, that I don’t like labels. My ancestors stem from many things, have lots of traditions, and helped shaped/and or create some of our greatest accomplishments. But should never be defined by their *suposed* color of their skin.)

The question I get every time I apply to a job. That darn questionare that’s more about control (in my opinon) that’s placed in front of me.

Black people (seen both capitalized and with lowercase “b”) is a term used in certain countries, often in socially based systems of racial classification or of ethnicity, to describe persons who are perceived to be dark-skinnedcompared to other given populations. As such, the meaning of the expression varies widely both between and within societies, and depends significantly on context. For many other individuals, communities and countries, “black” is also perceived as a derogatory, outdated, reductive or otherwise unrepresentative label, and as a result is neither used nor defined.[1]

Different societies apply differing criteria regarding who is classified as “black”, and these social constructs have also changed over time. In a number of countries, societal variables affect classification as much as skin color, and the social criteria for “blackness” vary. For example, in North America the term black people is not necessarily an indicator of skin color or ethnic origin, but is instead a socially based racial classification related to being African American, with a family history associated with institutionalized slavery. In South Africa and Latin America, mixed-race people are generally not classified as “black”. In other regions such as Australasia, settlers applied the term “black” or it was used by local populations with different histories and ancestral backgrounds.

I know that went a little over the top for some, but I just wanted to make it clear on where I stand in the thick of it.

I’m a double minority, or is it multi-minority? A minority of a minority. <——-There are entire theories on this… But anyway let me try and pull back to what it was I was trying to say.

I’m a double minority, and as such my worth is questioned. My Values are critiizced. My views or oppinons are considered NOT IMPORTANT or Fall on DEAF Ears. I’m constantly questioned in my day to day life, (work place) I work hard, but I’m paid less. I’m always made to show proof of my actions or almost always questioned. I will get, “Show me where it says that, or give me proof. I want the link/source where it came from.” As if my word is not good enough. (This happened a lot in the past, not so much now, but its still there, ever present in contact with others).

Constantly being told what I can’t have, but should just accept. Becuae that’s all there ever will be for me.

Pulled over for a “routine” traffic check and having my car searched. <—I believe there are those out there that think there should now be random  Stop and Search.

Told I can’t walk within a group of more than three becuase it will make other’s uncomfortable. <—I was only walking wtih friends talking and chatting about normal things.

“You look like a gang member, or, you had to have done drugs, doesn’t everybody like you at least smoke out?” <—-Excuse me what? Everybody like me? (Just because I dress a certain way paints me in a certain light? Or how about the music I listen to, or ways I chose to express myself. So what if I do smoke? What does that have to do with anything? How does that make me less of a person?

“You’re the whitest black girl I know.” <—–WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? Is it because I can articulate? What, Only white people can speak that way? (This was said to me in 2016! 2016! FOR REAL) *side note* I wanted to say, you haven’t met the Hood version of me yet, but that would have just been crass.

“Keep to your own kind.” <—-What is my kind exactly?

“You’ll never be able to acieve your dreams, just join the miiltary.” <—- Yeah, no!

This is just some of the things that have been said or done to me over the years. I could point out all the injustices that have been done, not to just me, or my ancestors, but countless others. Due to their race, religon, sex, or sexual orientation, or even disability. (Did I cover them all? If not I’m sorry, but you get my jist right?)

Sexual Abuse, Rape, Physical/Mental Abuse, Dehumanizing remarks, Bullying. <——–I have been a victim to all, and there isn’t enough time to go through it all, but that’s what it means to be ME in America. (And I know I’m not alone in this) —–I’m not the only one these terrible things have happened to. And not just because of my skin color or sex am I saying these things happened to me. But they did happen. End of Story.

But the truth of it is, it’s not who I am. Those things don’t define me, and it’s not all what I had planned for ME.

I AM NOT SORRY.

I AM WORTHY.

I AM LOVED.

I AM A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!

I will achieve everything and more. I am me, not a color, or a statistic. I am a HUMAN BEING, despite all that’s been done or said to or about me.

But what I’m also NOT is SCARED or FEARFUL, I am WEARY, but shall remain HOPEFUL.

I didn’t vote for Trump. He does not speak to me, or for me. He doesn’t represent me. I don’t know when, and I don’t know how, but sooner or later, buyers remorse will set in for some. For those who bought into his “so-called” vision. They may not even admit to it, but it will happen. A light bulb may go off and then you’ll think to yourself, “He isn’t trying to make America great.” ( I can’t say whether or not I agree with the “we’re already” great version either, there is still a lot of work to do in my opinion.) **I know some will say (How unpatriotic of her.. THE NERVE) SORRY NOT SORRY! Come walk in my shoes for a while, and you tell me what’s so great?

It’s not about RACISM anymore or Sex, and Religion. Seriously, those things will always be here, will always exist in some form or fashion, becuase there is no cure for ignorance. If there were, we’d have administered a long time ago. (Or would we make you pay top dollar to get the vaccine to cure you of your disease? HMMMMMMM) <——-Fucked I know, but that’s just life.

It’s about Amoral vs. Moral.

Are things gonna change? Maybe? But that change really depends on the PEOPLE, and I truly believe it will be the PEOPLE vs. D. Trump. When they realize his vision, and his true meaning behind his facade. His so called vision for America. There is going to come a moment when PEOPLE will take a stand. Meet thier oppenent on the line (that point of no return) and say–NO!

This from a family member: “I really do think this is going to change our day-to-day life.” My response was, “Well, its possible, but it won’t be Trump, it will be his brainwashed followers who will make our day to day change or become uncomfortable.” <—–I really hope that doesn’t happens, but it might. People’s true feelings are surfacing, and I wish I could say I’m surprised but I’m not. Who wants to be down with someone who admires Hilter? Has his book by his nightstand? (Could that be a lie? maybe) but guess what… Actions speak louder than words. I don’t want someone to represent me, who doesn’t respect me for me. Who looks down at me and sees me as a problem or less than human. Someone who doesn’t respect peoples choice to be pro-choice, or talk down or discriminate against same sex marriages. Love is love people! Someone who thinks you’re a bad person because you’re religion. How far are things gonna go before we take a stand?

*******Back to my thoughts again***********

They will say NO! We will not stand for your Dark Vision, NO! We want a NEW VISION. They won’t accept the backwards nonsense, they will demand to be met with a Future filled with a new vision. <—-I don’t know what it is. But some visionary, a true moral one will have to step forward and shake the foundation that has now been soiled.  *Now remember, I said I was weary, and hopeful.* What if none of this happens? And we end up facing another World War? Or worse, the state itself is no longer United, but Truly DIVDED. (It’s already like that.) Sometimes I laugh when people say The UNITED STATES of America, because really are we United?

I don’t know if what I’m even saying makes sense. I’m semi-emotoinal, and sometimes my meaning or intentions get lost in the void. But what it basically boils down to is yesterday was a moment in time that is going to mark some, break others, and so on. I am not going to let this break me. I’m not going to let it mark me, but I am going to watch. I am going to pay attention. I am going to educate myself, and my sons.

I owe it to myself and to them. I am going to process what it means to be me in this country, and pray we don’t fall deeper into the dark hole of greed and bigatry. Hope that this was a fluke and that a man who preyed on the weak and those of the mind that a change was needed will eventually wake up and see the world through my eyes and understand where it is I’m coming from. Not as a double minority, but as a Human Being.

I almost feel like a revolutionary. But it’s way too early in the game for me to take up the mantle and run forth, with my undies strapped down, and my hair pulled back screaming. “WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN” Sorry, not trying to make light, I just happen to have a quirky sense of humor.

I don’t know what will happen. I don’t know if my lack of fear is a good or a bad thing. All I can do is not let the madness pull me down and drown me in the crazy. I can’t do it. It’s not in me. I almost want to say peace out peeps, you voted for him, you’re on your own. He’s your problem now, not mine. But that’s just plain wrong. I’m here. I’ll stand with that visionary. I won’t sit around and stay quiet. Our oppenent has effectively pushed me in the corner, and I will push back. I know I’m not the only one either. There are more of us, contrary to what the polls said last night. Our voice can’t and won’t be squashed. Take up your panties, and pull back your hair, and hold on. Don’t let go of your morals, keep your values. Stick to your guns. Use your words, your voice. Don’t go gently, because this battle is only the beginnig.

Are you still here? Did I make sense? If so yay!

**Sidenote** I think everyone is entitled to their own opinon and you can see from above I didn’t go HAM (HARD AS A MUTHAFUCKER) <——I could have but that’s not always the best route to go. You want to debate what I’m saying, feel free, but keep in mind, you get ugly I have no problem getting crazy right back. This is my canvas, my form of speech, you want to dispute, fine, do it, but don’t be ugly about it. I wasn’t.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Lyrics.

Down by the river by the boats
Where everybody goes to be alone
Where you won’t see any rising sun
Down to the river we will run

When by the water we drink to the dregs
Look at the stones on the river bed
I can tell from your eyes
You’ve never been by the riverside

Down by the water the riverbed
Somebody calls you somebody says
Swim with the current and float away
Down by the river everyday

Oh my God I see how everything is torn in the river deep
And I don’t know why I go the way
Down by the riverside

When that old river runs pass your eyes
To wash off the dirt on the riverside
Go to the water so very near
The river will be your eyes and ears

I walk to the borders on my own
To fall in the water just like a stone
Chilled to the marrow in them bones
Why do I go here all alone

Oh my God I see how everything is torn in the river deep
And I don’t know why I go the way
Down by the riverside

Oh oh, hey hey [x3]

Down by the riverside [x2]

Music Muse Monday: Perfect Darkness by Fink

Perfect Darkness by Fink is one of my all time favorites. Yes, I have a lot of favorites. But this is up there in the top 100 for sure. His voice is hypnotic, and I own every single album this man has every done. LIKE EVERY SINGLE ONE! It’s very rare you can find an artist that you dig so much that you enjoy every track. There isn’t one bad song on any of his albums. Not one.! So, I hope you enjoy the music, and the lyrics.

This song made it on to my Consumed playlist. Book 2 in my Soulful Hearts Novella Series and it’s part of Paige Tyler’s Dallas Fire and Rescue Kindle World!

Lyrics:

Perfect memories fall down like ashes
From the fire we made love
And everything we gotta say we save it.
See the black heels around the fire.
Feel the night air in Perfect darkness babe.
Perfect darkness is all I can see.
Deep water stay under.
See it rolling over your head and just roll with it until it’s all good yeah.
Deep water a little deeper then you thought feel it going over the edge and just go with it
until it’s all good yeah.
Keep those brown eyes wide open for
a for this moment we own for now.
And everything we gonna do we do it.
See the black clouds fall out of fear
Feel it rise up in perfect darkness.
Perfect darkness is all I can see.
Deep water stay under.
See it rolling over you head and just roll with it until it’s all good yeah.
Deep water
Deep water stay under.
See it rolling over you head and just roll with it until it’s all good yeah.
Deep water a little deeper then you thought feel it going over the edge and just go with it
until it’s all good yeah.
Compass points out in all directions.
From this moment we over now.
With everything we do we gonna do it.
And everything we do we’re gonna do it.
And everything we’re gonna do we do it.
And everything we do we’re gonna do it.
And everything we’re gonna do we do it.
Perfect darkness is all I can see.
Perfect darkness is all I can see.

I mean, I’m a bibliophile AND I read for a living, my days are filled with kickass heroines and women who overcome adversity and their fatal flaws. Plus, I’ve personally battled multiple types of cancer and more, my mom had a hard life, my friends kick their own personal demons to the curb daily. My life is FULL of fearless females. So who in the world was I going to write about? And then it hit me…I would write about someone that only I (and Tigris) have met. At least…yet.

Friday Fearless Female: Guest Post Sylvain Reynard

Friday Fearless Female: Guest Post Sylvain Reynard

It’s an honour to write about my favourite fearless female character. Thank you Tigris for the kind invitation.

 What makes a person fearless?

Some individuals are fearless because they have nothing to lose; others are fearless because they believe so strongly in something, they are willing to risk everything for it.

The Raven by Sylvain ReynardRaven Wood, the heroine of my Florentine Series, works at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence restoring famous paintings.  She is fearless because of her belief in justice and compassion, as well as her conviction that a good person can’t witness a crime without getting involved.

Here is a scene from the first chapter of “The Raven”:

“Angelo was a homeless man who spent his days and nights begging for coins. Raven passed him on her way to and from the Uffizi. She always stopped to greet him and give him money or some food. She felt a kinship with him since they both walked with a cane. Angelo was developmentally disabled, which only increased her compassion.

As she walked, her gaze traveled from Angelo to the drunken gang and back again. A terrible feeling of dread passed over her.

“Good evening, friends!” Angelo’s Italian pierced the rainy darkness. “A few coins, please.”

The cheerful hope in his voice caused Raven’s stomach to churn. She knew the cruel fate of hope when it was misdirected.

She began limping faster, her eyes fixed on her friend, willing herself not to trip and fall. She was almost to the bridge when she saw Angelo lifting his hands and crying out.

The largest man was urinating on him. Angelo tried to move away, but the man followed.  The other men cheered.

Raven felt shouts of protest bubble up in her throat. But she didn’t open her mouth.

She should intervene. She knew it. Evil flourished when good people walked by and said nothing.

The largest man finished urinating with a flourish, returning himself to the confines of his jeans. Without warning, he lifted a booted foot and kicked Angelo in the ribs. He cried out in pain slumping to the ground.

 “Stop!”

The men stopped and stared in Raven’s direction.

“Stop,” she repeated in a much quieter tone.

The men exchanged glances and the largest one said something derisive to his companions. He stalked in her direction.

As he approached, Raven could see he was broad shouldered and tall, his head shaven, his eyes dark. She resisted the urge to retreat.

“Go.” The man waved at her dismissively.

Raven’s green eyes darted behind him to where the homeless man was lying, curled into a ball.

“Let me help him. He’s bleeding.”

The bald man looked over his shoulder to his companions. As if in defiance, one of them kicked Angelo in the stomach.

With a predatory smile, the bald man turned back to Raven. He pointed in the direction from which she’d approached.

 “Run,” he hissed…

As you can see in this scene, Raven isn’t entirely fearless. She has a healthy sense of danger and realizes that by coming to the homeless man’s defense, she is putting herself at risk. She is walking home, alone, and the streets of Florence are almost empty.  Her personal risk is even greater given the fact she is physically disabled and walks with a cane.

But her belief in the homeless man’s dignity and his right to live without intimidation or abuse trumps her concern for herself. Her commitment to justice and compassion makes her set aside her fear.

Raven’s decision to intervene on the homeless man’s behalf has consequences. I won’t spoil the story by telling you what they are, but I can reveal that there are both positive and negative consequences. One of the most positive consequences is that because of her actions she meets her soul mate, William, grows to love her deeply, especially because of her fierce and protective nature.

Later in the novel, William asks Raven why she risked her safety and even her life to defend the homeless man.

Raven replied that she couldn’t stand there and do nothing. By this she means that she couldn’t live with herself if she walked away from the homeless man’s suffering.

It’s this realization that makes Raven fearless – not her physical strength, or her power, or her situation. Her convictions and her courage motivated her to do what is right, despite the risk.

I admire her character very much and enjoyed writing her. Readers in the Spanish speaking community have started a #YoSoyRaven campaign to express their solidarity with her and her bravery.

Raven’s story, which is told in “The Raven” and “The Shadow, comes to a conclusion with the final book of The Florentine Series, “The Roman,” which releases December 6th.

 Thank you for reading.

Cover Reveal: The Black Prince

Here is the beautiful cover of The Black Prince, done by Dreams2Media! Isn’t it beautiful! I’m so excited about this book in the series. Things are getting stirred up, and as usual things are not always what they seem. Enri is our resident bad guy, controller of the Death Walkers, and all around bad ass.. (Although, Royce wouldn’t agree.) I’m looking forward to everyone meeting him, and the heroine of the story, who is Dietrich’s sister, Yewa.

Blub Coming Soon!

The Tide is changing, and Chaos has a name. A line has been drawn and sides must be taken. The Black Prince, the 5th book in my Shadow Unit Series coming late November 2016.

Music Muse Monday: Wait for the people by James Chatburn

Music Muse Monday: Wait for the people by James Chatburn

[Verse 1] I got a case and bottle of wine
And I won’t leave this house until she’s mine
I smell like cigarettes, I hope she smokes
With all the booze, I hope she likes bad jokes

[Chorus 1] My friend said ‘wait for people, wait for people
To leave
Wait for people, wait for people
To leave
Wait for people, wait for people
To leave
Wait for people, wait for people’

[Verse 2] Disturbed by the man in the khaki pants
Cause he just won’t leave that good looking girl alone
It’s gettin’ to the time all that’s left is my glass of wine
Screw this shit, it’s time to get on home

[Chorus 2] My friends said ‘wait for the people, wait for the people
To leave
Wait for the people, wait for the people
To leave
Wait for the people, wait for the people
To leave
Wait for the people, wait for the people
To leave

[Bridge] I lingered way too long
But my dignity has left
She said, ‘you and I don’t belong
I’ve got no patience for you kind I must confess’
Already bought two packs and I
Won’t stand to buy a third
I gotta get home before the night ends

[Chorus 3] Wait for the people
Wait for the people
Wait for the people
Said don’t wait for the people

Today’s post is from my latest muse… It has nothing to do with what I’m working on, but its upbeat. It makes me smile and bounce in my seat and that’s why it makes the cut. If you take the lyrics away, you’re left with a beautiful undertone of beats, but when the lyrics are added, its MAGIC! I can’t express enough how huge music is when it comes to my life and my writing. It’s a large influence on me. Sometimes I find that I can listen to the same song over and over again for days. That’s when I know its pure joy. If you listen to the beginning of the song, the strings of the guitar pull you in, and then the voice comes. I can’t even explain how it gives me chills, and when you hit that cresting point of the song, you’re already bouncing your head. So join me in this jam, and just, wait for the people….
