When tasked with writing a post about Fearless Females it is a bit intimidating, but something that I put my heart and soul into. Because I could never write a female character that didn’t kick ass. Even if she’s a female that’s not going to be able to physically kick some butt, she’s going to have something that makes her fearless.
I have to say I had the best time writing my first fearless female, Alexis. She was my first, so she holds a special place in my heart. I didn’t make Alexis overly strong, or highly trained, she’s not even military or the holder of some cool job. But, Alexis is fearless. She’s a young girl that has an obsession with prepping for an apocalypse. She started her obsession after she had to swim out of her attic to save her parents during hurricane Katrina. After that day, she swore to never be caught unaware again.
Unfortunately, no one is prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Well, most of us aren’t. But, Alexis knows how to roll with the punches. She’s adaptable, not afraid to tackle something new, and she’s also able to admit when she’s in over her head. She’s also not afraid to live, to love, and to redefine how she fits into the world. Most people would give up, declare that life isn’t worth living…but not Alexis. Even in the midst of the end of the world, maintaining a sense of humor, and a zest for life is important. Because life is what you make of it. And she believes that no matter how dark the world gets, or how scary life becomes, you can still change your fate and make the world around you something worth fighting for. And to me, that is fearless.
Alexis recommends a tactical tomahawk in your zombie apocalypse preparedness kit, along with matches, a knife, compass, rope, flashlight, power bars or MREs (Meal’s Ready to Eat), change of clothes, first aid kit, water container and water purifying tablets and duct tape.
You can find Alexis in the NOLA Zombie Series by Gillian Zane (FREE ON Kindle Unlimited)
Alexis’ First Book:
RUN (Book 1)
RUN | Zombies are on the loose in New Orleans and of all the End of the World scenarios, Alexis Winter wasn’t prepared for this one. But, an apocalypse is an apocalypse and she should have this covered. She has been “prepping” for the last three years. The problem is location and timing. She’s stuck downtown and she has to get to her house on the outskirts of the city so she can get her supplies and bug-in (for the “non-peppers” this means hole up and stay safe).
Agreeing to work on a Saturday is now coming back to bite her on the ass big time. Hopefully, it won’t be a literal bite by the walking dead.
Luck favors the prepared, and as luck would have it, it comes in the form of the ridiculously hot Blake Miller. Former military man, current mercenary, Blake Miller, the man with the plan, his goal: steal a boat and trek up the Mississippi until they find safety. Alexis thinks this is a great plan and she decides to team up with Blake. The two team up in unexpected ways as they find they can’t keep their hands off of each other even when the world is falling down around them.
Can Alexis and Blake survive the end of the world, and if they do make it through the night, find a place that is safe and secure? Can their newfound attraction lead them down the road to love or heartbreak?
Zombies, sex, romance and carnage…you can’t get any better than this.
Be warned, there will be monsters, living and dead, there will be very intense sex scenes and there will be three books in the series.

About the Author:
Gillian Zane is the author of the NOLA Zombie series. Zane is the pen name of a prominent blogger in the publishing industry, which will remain a mystery unless you Google it. Since she can remember her goal has been to become Master of the Universe and has decided to focus first on the literary world. Things are progressing nicely.
Zane has been a freelance writer for the last ten years and has published a few non-fiction pieces, none of which were very exciting.
Zombies are much more exciting and a way for her to combine her two current obsessions, hot boys with guns and Doomsday Prepping. When she isn’t stockpiling MREs (Meal’s Ready to Eat) or researching how to build a cistern on a budget, she’s taking care of her little family and exploring the city that she loves, New Orleans.
