Pocket Books

June 20, 2017

Praise for Gone to Dust, Book 2:

“Lucky fans of the super-talented Hart don’t have to wait long for the second installment of her new romantic suspense series Gravediggers, as the installments are being released back to back. In the first book, Hart set up her world where five men, declared dead to the world at large, work for a super-secret anti-terrorism force. Hart’s new heroine is a very talented romance writer who takes no crap from anyone — even secret commandos. Miller and Elias are both funny and sexy together, which helps make this book nonstop entertainment, with plenty of witty bantering and thrilling adventure!”—RT 4 ½ star TOP PICK Review

“Modern Cliterature…Enjoy [this] lusty [passage] adapted from summer’s raciest reads…”Cosmopolitan, July 2017

Praise for The Darkest Corner, Book 1:

“Gritty, deadly, and peppered with unexpected humor, this supersexy, adrenaline-charged story will keep readers on edge and breathless until the last page.”—Library Journal

“Liliana Hart sets up a fascinating and intriguing premise of individual men forced into taking extreme steps. Her heroine’s reluctant immersion into this world allows readers to discover the treachery and danger looming all around…a thrilling series!”—RT

“A cool blend of entertaining antics and suspenseful moments, with a slightly morbid sense of humor thrown in for good measure. (Our heroine was a mortician, after all!) I had a blast getting to know this cast of characters and can’t wait to see what exciting things Liliana Hart has in store for us next.”—Harlequin Junkie

 About the book:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Liliana Hart’s second book in her sexy, suspenseful Gravediggers series, GONE TO DUST, features an elite group of mysterious men who might be dead to the world, but are also tasked with saving it—and no one can ever know.

The Gravediggers aren’t exactly what they seem. They’re the most elite of the world’s fighting forces—and all they have in common is that they’ve been betrayed by the countries they’ve died for. Because they are dead. To their country, their military, and their families. Sometimes the dead do rise…

Miller Darling is one of the most popular romance novelists of her time. Not bad for a woman who doesn’t believe in romance. She’s as logical as they come, and she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters. What she does believe in is family, so when her brother disappears, she doesn’t think twice about packing her bag and her laptop and heading out to find him.

Elias Cole lived and breathed the live of a Navy SEAL. Now he’s “dead” and his hero’s honor tarnished. The only thing keeping him sane are the men who are like him—The Gravediggers—and the woman who makes his head spin. He’s never met anyone like Miller Darling. Her smart mouth and quick wit keep him on his toes, and damned if he doesn’t find that appealing.

When Miller receives a package from the brother who abandoned her asking for help, it’s clear she’s in over her head with the mess he’s gotten himself into. She needs a professional, and Elias is just the man for the job. Only her brother is a former SEAL—the man who left his team to die—and Elias is more interested in vengeance than saving his life.

I personally enjoyed the characters in the book, Miller and Elias’ banter was hilarious. Their chemistry scorching, and I couldn’t put the book down! It was sexy and packed with adventure. I’ve not had a chance to read the first book, and I don’t think I missed out on anything, except for an amazing story. (I’ve remedied that, by buying the first book in the series). But you can definitely follow along and get the gist as you get a bit of backstory from how the gravediggers were born. I’m invested in the series and can’t wait to see who the others fall for! Bravo! Excellent read!

Double Time by Olivia Cunning: Netgalley Review

Double Time by Olivia Cunning: Netgalley Review

Olivia Cunning delivers the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a wicked sense of humor in this menage story featuring the hottest guy in the Sinners band.

Trey Mills, the notoriously sexy Sinners rhythm guitarist, gives up his bisexual lifestyle and is swept into a hot, heady romance with Reagan Elliot, a female rock star sensation. But when Trey encounters Reagan’s sexy bisexual roommate, Ethan Conner, he can no longer deny who he is or what he wants. Reagan heartily agrees to a solution that opens up a hot new world of sexual experience–and love–with the two men she wants the most

Hmmmm…. Where to start.

I enjoyed reading this story. It was different in the sense, of other Menege books I read, but then the same. It was the same in the aspect of the dynamics of the physical relationship between Trey, Reagan, and Ethan.

Where this book was different, was that Cunning took you on an emotional journey. Trey was so giving and raw with his emotions that I was truly invested in this story in regards to the emotional aspect. I couldn’t stop sliding my finger across the kindle screen to get to the next page.

The opening of the story I was in a total, WTF mode, but then I quickly calmed down. I enjoyed how we got to see what the other characters where up to in their relationships and yes, the order of the book did bother me. But didn’t stop me from reading.

If you are looking for an emotional ride, filled with some intense sexual encounters and very predictable come-on’s this book is for you!

I wonder if she’s going to spin off the story and do something with Exodus End… I think Dare would be interesting to get to know… 🙂

The Perfect Imposter

The Perfect Impostor by Wendy Soliman

Who better to foil your plans as an Impostor then man who loved your best friend?

Katrina Sinclair is by no means the best liar and anyone who has ever met her can see right through her. When her best friend blackmails her into attending a ball impersonating her, she has no choice but to oblige. Katrina is convinced that if she helps Julia that she will become well know as a modiste and her dress making career will take off. Little does she know that Julia’s ex-fiancé will be attending the same ball.
Leo Kincade has been assigned a top secret mission of outing a theft ring among the rich. He is well established in this society as he is the duke’s brother. He knows at first meeting that Katrina isn’t who she pretends to be, but the mysterious woman stirs an attraction stronger than anything he has ever felt.

She suppressed a sigh. All in all, what had once seemed like a modestly attainable ambition was starting to feel like wading through quicksand. She couldn’t carry on for much longer, existing upon nothing more than implacable determination and the good will of others.

But Julia could change all that simply by wearing some of her more pioneering designs and making sure they were remarked upon by the people who mattered. Lady Marshall’s ball would be the sparkling culmination to the most sought-after of the summer’s house parties. The Duchess of Southport was to attend, and invitations were eagerly anticipated by society’s elite

Wendy Soliman is a new to me author that has risen to the front of my regency collection. Her characters chemistry was riveting and I couldn’t wait to see what they would do next. She kept me on the edge of my seat and I wasn’t expecting the twist at the end. Let’s just say it was truly shocking for that time period.
All in all I give this book a 3.5 of 5. The only concern I had was the length. It seemed to drag in some areas but others I couldn’t turn the page fast enough.

Enraptured (Eternal Guardians, #4)

Enraptured (Eternal Guardians #4)

Orpheus may have joined the elite protectors known as Eternal Guardians, but they’ve never trusted whose side he’s really on. And the half-daemon couldn’t care less. Orpheus has only one goal: rescue his brother from the Underworld. He’s not expecting a woman to get in the way, especially not one sent by Zeus to seduce, entrap, and then ultimately destroy him. A woman who will dredge up a past he doesn’t remember, a love that once condemned him, and a dark and deadly secret as old as the Eternal Guardians themselves.

What do a Siren and a Daemon Hybrid have in common? Nothing, until you through in a little LOVE.

Skyla is a Siren. The Order of the Sirens are female warriors trained by the Goddess Athena. They are often times described as X-rated Barbie’s with deadly skills. Her internal motto is “Duty has saved you “. She has been sent by Zeus on a sacred mission to kill Orpheus. Little does she know how wrong her mission really is…

Orpheus is a Half-Daemon Hybrid with the social skills of a bear. He has the markings of the Argonauts, but isn’t claimed as one. He is arrogant and conceited but has the charm to get just about anyone he wants. From the first moment Orpheus meets Skyla he begins to have flashbacks of another life. He doesn’t understand them and certainly doesn’t want them. He gets terrible black outs and is confused by the feelings that he is beginning to have for Skyla.

He pressed a hand against the wall and leaned in close. Until the heat from her skin slid over his and the beat of her heart was all he could hear. “I want to know who the hell you really are. And I want to know what your being here has to do with me.”

Oh Lord, talk about Spicy. I was fanning myself before the first 50 pages were over. Naughton’s hot and steamy romance makes for a read you just want to devour. She is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. I would give this book 5 of 5 for its total hotness. You can check out the author at www.elisabethnaughton.com .

Quickie Review by Ashley: Darkest Caress by kaylea Cross

Quickie Review by Ashley: Darkest Caress by kaylea Cross

Darkest Caress

by Kaylea Cross (Goodreads Author)
Net Galley Review: E Copy

Darkest Caress by Kaylea Cross is her first book in the Empowered Series. Darkest Caress
Two-hundred-year-old Daegan Blackwell is one of the last remaining Empowered, an ancient magical race. Daegan’s duty is to lead and protect his remaining Brethren in the coming war foretold by prophecy. The last thing he expects is to meet the one woman who will either save or destroy him-his destined mate.

Fiercely independent Realtor Olivia Farrell believes darkly handsome Daegan is simply a prospective client. Until she’s attacked by a man with a strange aura-and Daegan fights him off, taking away her pain with just his touch. At first, Olivia refuses to believe she’s part of a magical race, yet mounting evidence and her powerful chemistry with Daegan are too strong to deny.

But as Daegan’s partner, Olivia becomes a target in the battle between good and evil that threatens her life, as well as the very existence of the Empowered. And the only one who can save her is the man claiming to be her destiny…

Daegan Blackwell is the leader of a magical bloodline called the Empowered. He is the Coven Leader and has been protecting his brothers for nearly 200 years. He has been preparing for the upcoming war when suddenly he meets his destined mate. Can he be saved or will the darkness he has been fighting for so long consume him?

Olivia (Liv) Farrell is a normal every day real estate agent, or so she thinks. In reality she is actually Daegan’s mate and about to become an imperative pawn in the war. Becoming Daegan’s mate has more than one consequence now that the evil ones know about her. Does Liv have what it takes to conquer a warrior?

“Olivia, look at me, love.”
The endearment, the slight Irish lilt in his voice soothed her enough to unlock her frozen muscles. She took an unsteady breath and turned her head toward him, reaching out blindly. Still on his knees, he gathered her up in his arms and lifted her out of the car, settling her onto his lap. She clung to him, fingers digging into his muscled shoulders.
“You’re okay. I’ve got you.” He held her close, his arms strong and warm around her.
Safe. She was safe now. Daegan wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

Kaylea Cross is a new to me author so I was had no expectations for her writing. Mrs. Cross showed that her characters were well developed and in depth. She took my favorite Irish Folklore and integrated it into today’s society so that was also a big plus from me.

Leabhair Reviews: The Saint Who Stole My Heart by Stefanie Sloane

Leabhair Reviews: The Saint Who Stole My Heart by Stefanie Sloane

The Saint Who Stole My Heart (Regency Rogues #4)

by Stefanie Sloane
Book Provided by Net Galley

Desire, danger, intrigue, and steamy seduction unite a sexy spymaster and an intrepid bluestocking as Stefanie Sloane’s luscious new series continues.

Possessed of a brilliant mind and a love for puzzles, Dashiell Matthews, Viscount Carrington, is a crucial member of the elite Young Corinthians spy league. Assuming the façade of an addle-brained Adonis, he hunts for a notorious London murderer known as the Bishop. When fate causes him to cross paths with Miss Elena Barnes, Dash discovers an enigma that will prove delightfully intoxicating to unravel: a voluptuous
beauty as intelligent as she is fearless.

Only the lure of a collection of rare books bequeathed to her family by Dash’s late father could tempt Elena from her cozy rural life to the crush and vanity of London. But if Elena finds his lordship to be the most impossibly beautiful man she’s ever seen, he also seems to be the stupidest. Which made her body’s shameless response to his masterful seduction all the more unfathomable. Yet when she discovers Dash’s mission to track the dangerous Bishop, she willingly risks everything—her trust, her heart, her very life—to join him

The Saint Who Stole My Heart by Stefanie Sloane is the 4th in her Regency Rogues series published by Ballantine Books.

Dashiell Matthews aka Viscount Carrington is an extremely intelligent member of London’s Corinthians Club. Dash, as he is most commonly referred to, has strength and value of the mind. That is his contribution to the Corinthians. He can detect patterns and clues that no one else can see, can strategize ten steps ahead of the enemy and always keeps his wits about him with cool detachment. He is most assuredly not looking for a mistress or even a marriage, especially to a Bluestocking.

Miss Elena Barnes, daughter of Baron Harcourt is a Bluestocking. A derisive term for women generally believed to be too smart for their own good. Elena spends the majority of her time with her nose in a book. Reading is her favorite indulgence and she makes no apologies for it. She has a quick wit and a truly gifted mind that she applies to her charitable work.

With the interference of a nosy Marchioness, doing her best to bring the two young intellects together, you have an all star character line-up. Lady Mowbray adds just the right amount of force to catapult Dash and Elena towards one another.

One of my favorite parts of this book (there were many) was the scene when Elena first meets Lady Mowbray. Lady Mowbray talks about her sisters, who she lovingly refers to as The Furies. Elena’s sense of humor is quick to attract Dash and Lady Mowbray praises her for her way of thinking. It’s the first time that Dash realizes that Elena may not be what she appears.

Although this book is humorous and has many teasers, you need not forget that a Murderer is on the loose and the seriousness of Dash’s dark journey from childhood into adulthood.

Stefanie Sloane has captured my interest with this book. I will most definitely be looking for many others from her in the future. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to get lost in the pages of a true love romance.
