Thanks so much for having me, Tigris!
I have to admit, I’ve always been drawn to alpha heroes whether they’re cops, military guys, covert agents, cowboys, shifters—you get the idea. But while I need to have my hero be a guy who can take care of himself—and when necessary, the heroine—I also like a woman who can stand on her own two feet and take care of herself.
It’s a careful balance that I have to play in my stories. I’m never trying to say the heroine doesn’t need her hero because she certainly does. (He also needs her.) It’s just important to me to show that sometimes a woman isn’t going to sit around and wait to be saved. In other cases, I want her to be just as willing as the guy to face danger for the person she loves. Just as importantly, I love showing that kick-butt comes all shapes and sizes, and doesn’t have to equate to a woman running around with a weapon.
Both my Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) Series and my X-OPS Series show the diversity of the term kick butt when it comes to my heroines. Since my newest release TO LOVE A WOLF is in my SWAT Series, I’ll introduce you to some of the kick-butt heroines from that series.
In Book 1, HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, Mackenzie Stone is a journalist who will go after any story no matter the risk. She’s not an action hero, but when her man is in danger, she finds herself worrying more about him than herself (even if he is a werewolf). In her case, kick butt means stepping into danger for her hero instead of away from it.
In Book 2, WOLF TROUBLE, everything changes. Khaki Blake is an alpha werewolf too. She personifies the very definition of kick butt. She’s tough, aggressive, and dangerous. But when the man she loves (another werewolf) is injured, the sensitive side of my kick-butt heroine comes out. This just shows you can be kick butt and have a soft side, too.
In Book 3, IN THE COMPANY OF WOLVES, Jayna Winston is a beta werewolf who comes from a tough background and gets caught up in a situation well outside her comfort zone. As a beta, she’s used to her alpha taking care of the pack. But when that alpha puts his own needs ahead of the pack (and on a collision course with the Dallas SWAT team), she has to take a stand and be more than she ever imagined she could be. And with the love of a good werewolf, she finds out what that means.
In my newest release Book 4, TO LOVE A WOLF, Everly is a fun-loving artist whose biggest obstacle is to overcome a family full of overprotective men who think she can’t take care of herself. When they decide she’s too good for the man she’s fallen in love with, she has to take a stand for herself and for love…even if the man she’s fallen for is a werewolf.
Every one of my heroines are different and kick butt in their own special way. But that’s what I was going for. Women don’t have to fit into a standard mode to be exceptional. They just have to be willing to step out there and take a stand.
HE’S FOUND THE ONE…
SWAT officer Landry Cooper is certain Everly Danu is The One. The problem is, she has no idea what Cooper really is. And as much as he wants to trust her, he’s not sure he can share his deepest secret…
BUT CAN HE KEEP HER?
When Everly’s family discovers Cooper’s a werewolf, her brothers will do anything to keep them apart-they’ll kill him if they have to. Everly is falling hard for the ridiculously handsome SWAT officer, and she’s not about to let her brothers tell her who she can love… Until Cooper’s secret is exposed and she discovers the man she thought she knew is a monster in disguise.
