We have a surprise special guest hanging out today! Author, Patricia W. Fischer! She writes amazing stories that are really sexy, and of course make you laugh! What more can a girl ask for in a Romance?
Oh, no. My storytelling genius isn’t me. My strong desire to tell stories hit me early in life, mainly because of this woman, my great-grandmother, Jeanette Pardo Stidham, my Mumo.
She wove amazing tales of her upbringing with her father, Leon Pardo, a Baptist Missionary who had the family travel all over Texas, Cuba, and Louisiana during his attempts to convert so many.
Her mother, Charlotte DuVall, had always been shrouded in mystery. She and her sister, Naomi, arrived in New York City in 1884 with only a photograph pinned to my great-great grandmother’s clothes as a form of ID. She and her sister were left in the care of strangers, the Davis’s. The bio family never arrived or the Davis’s left NYC with the children before they returned. It’s been a dead end on the family tree, but has always been a wealth of interesting assumptions to what the real stories were.
As I grew up, I heard multiple stories from not only my Mumo, but additionally grandparents, parents along with the numerous aunts and uncles (who’d also grown up on her storytelling) were always amazing sources of information and incredible stories. These ranged from where exactly the tooth fairy puts all those teeth to the Santa elf who hides in the air conditioning vents and watches us all year, to the mythological creatures that hang out under our beds.
Needless to say, I had a very well rounded education in how to spin a yarn and probably a very warped sense of what normal was…is.
Being a native Texan, grand stories weren’t the only staple of my upbringing. Fishing, both fresh and salt water occupied a great deal of my weekends. So if there’s a Zombie Apocalypse, I can feed my family, which makes me feel good.

Migrations of the Heart, Book 2
Asa Caldwell returned from the Great War with nothing to show for it—as in nothing below his left knee. Forget about the journalism career he loved. His story is over. Done.
Yet he finds the strength to journey to Winslow, Georgia, to get Ruby Bledsoe Morson’s sister out of trouble. Before he can bring Mags Bledsoe home, though, a spate of mysterious attacks reawakens his investigative instincts.
During the war, Mags did her duty to God and country by stepping into a management role at the textile mill. Now she’s been shuffled back to the rank and file—and Asa has her hard-earned job. Not only is the infernal man doing everything wrong, her plan for revenge against the mill owner who lynched her childhood sweetheart is farther out of reach than ever.
As they clash over almost everything, Mags begins to set fire to Asa’s soul, bright enough to dim the memory of the killing fields of France. Enough to give him a new mission in life—to make her feel the same way.
Warning: Contains a wounded warrior who’s done with fighting…and one feisty woman who makes him snap to attention.

Milford, GA 1868: Milford College is in trouble. The mission to create teachers and preachers for the recently freed populations is on a shaky course because of problems between the married founders.
Mayor Virgil Smithson has been away to the constitutional convention in the newly established state capitol in Atlanta for almost five months. He’s late in getting back home. Worried about her husband, Amanda Smithson manages the crowded and growing school by herself. How they will pay the taxes on the school property if Virgil doesn’t return from Atlanta?
More problems: The Milford daughters-in-law arrive in town, determined to wrest what they see as their rightful inheritance from the Smithsons.
Amanda has hired an old school chum from Oberlin to teach the older students. And he’s a tad too affectionate with Amanda for Virgil’s liking.
Just when it all seems impossible to resolve, the Smithsons must endure another crisis that threatens to tear them, and the dream of their school—-apart.
When life becomes difficult, it will take all of God’s love and mercy for the Smithsons to come together to fight within the bonds of holy matrimony that united them less than two years before. It will be the mission of the mayor, and his wife, to do what it takes to keep the new and coltish educational tradition that they began together going– to keep their love alive.

Today on the blog, we have the amazing Cathy Yardley, author of the Fandom Heart Series. A book all should go and read immediately. I loved Level Up! It was a fantastic read, and I read it in almost one sitting. I couldn’t stop moving my finger across the Kindle screen. The only reason I put the book down was because I had to be at work early in order to process payroll.
Here are some random facts about Cathy, (taken from her website) :
She is a fiction addict, a foodie, geekgirl, who loves being an author. She’s also a fantastic mentor, so for all who are aspiring either to write, hone your craft, or just seeking guidance, you should check out her Rock Your Writing, series. I’ve read all of those as well.
Geeky introvert Tessa Rodriguez will do whatever it takes to get promoted to video game engineer– including create a fandom-based video game in just three weeks. The only problem is, she can’t do it alone. Now, she needs to strong-arm, cajole, and otherwise socialize with her video game coworkers, especially her roommate, Adam, who’s always been strictly business with her. The more they work together, though, the closer they get…
Adam London has always thought of his roomie Tessa as “one of the guys” until he agreed to help her with this crazy project. Now, he’s thinking of her all the time… and certainly as something more than just a roommate! But his last girlfriend broke up with him to follow her ambitions, and he knows that Tessa is obsessed with getting ahead in the video game world.
Going from friends to something more is one hell of a challenge. Can Tessa and Adam level up their relationship to love?

Hello my name is Chudney Thomas and I’m going to be you tour guide. We’re going to take a short trip around the world to celebrate valentine’s.
Mind you I’m not a huge Valentine’s Day person. The hubby and I don’t typically go out since he’s an introvert and I’m an extroverted introvert and there is nothing like a crowd to make us antsy. Rest assured, the hubby makes sure that I get chocolate and flowers because I do like those things but he’s also known to do it spur of the moment as well. So, it’s not that we don’t celebrate it. It’s that we prefer to celebrate at home.
So in celebration of those who like to kick back on your couch and snuggle with the significant other on Valentine’s Day I came up the idea to talk about romantic getaways. I love to travel and if it’s one event I’m always up for it’s a getaway. There is nothing like a little down time with the one you love in a place where you don’t have to worry about doing the laundry, the dishes or have to hear the phone ring.
Google of course became my best friend as I began a search for the top romantic getaways. (http://www.travelchannel.com/interests/romance-and-honeymoons/photos/worlds-most-romantic-destinations)
Low and behold Greece is our first stop. I don’t know about you but I grew up reading Mills and Boon’s and Harlequin’s and we all know that tall, handsome, Greek tycoon’s and shipping magnates abound in the beautiful Greek isles. I haven’t been there but I’d love to go. I have heard from more than a few people that it is a lovely place to have a honeymoon.

So like I told you this post evolved as I typed. I actually pick up the phone and called Tigris because I wasn’t sure what she was looking for. I ran this idea by her, what if I found a book per destination? For Greece I decided against mills and boon because the book I remember from my teenage years turned out to have the hero shaking the heroine. Instead I ended up choosing Acheron: A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels Book 11) by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Then had the thought that I wanted to choose three destinations that were completely different from each other. I succeeded. All are different. All beautiful. And all romantic. I saw this photo of Kyoto, Japan. And immediately a long distant memory sprung to mind.
I’m not sure if it I saw the movie when I was younger or if I read this one from my Aunty Patsy’s collection. Lord knows I read all sorts of books way before I should have when I was younger. Tigris was actually the one to remind me of the movie. So now I guess I’m going to have to read and watch this one again. Shogun (Asian Saga Book 1) by James Clavell

As I scrolled through I swore I saw London and had something else planned but, when I scrolled again it turned out I was making it up in my head, but then I saw this awesome photo of Hawaii. And it triggered a memory that sent me running to my bookshelves.
The book this calls to mind, ties together Japan, Merry olde England and Hawaii. I’ll give you hint, it’s a historical. If you guessed The Shadow and the Star by Laura Kinsale.

What do these places and books have in common? They are all places I’d love to visit and books that take me there for a price cheaper than the airfare. I hope you enjoyed the very short trip around the world.
